Here's how YOU can access
Whootie Owl's Free Writing Assignments

FREE WRITING ASSIGNMENTS. These handouts present the same thoughtful questions shown at the end of each story on the site. Just click the story title you want, print it, make as many copies as you need, and distribute the handouts to your class. Simple!

Tip: Instead of making black-and-white copies from a copy machine, you can PRINT as many copies as you'll need directly from your printer. [Most printers allow you to indicate multiple copies; look for that feature in a button called "Properties".] That way, you can DISTRIBUTE COLOR COPIES for a jazzier presentation!

Recommended: Let your students know they can go online and see how otherkids answered the same questions about the story that they answered on the handout. Here's how:

  • Go to the home page of the web site, "Absolutely Whootie: Stories to Grow By":

  • Double-click the castle.
  • Select the title of the story your class read from the drop-down list. Click "Go".
  • The story will appear; scroll down to the end of the story, after the yellow flourish.
  • Just below the yellow flourish, double-click a black oval button with yellow letters that says, "What Other Kids Say About the Story". That's where your students can view how other children responded to the same questions they answered from the handout.

And Now! without any further ado...
    Whootie Owl's Free Writing Assignments

    Here's what to do:
Just click any story title below. You'll go to a WRITING ASSIGNMENT that's designed especially for the story. Click FILE, then PRINT. The handout should print PERFECTLY onto a standard 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper. Then just make as many copies as you like for your class and distribute them. Better yet: PRINT as many copies as you need DIRECTLY FROM THE PRINTER. That way, you'll have snazzy color handouts to distribute in class.
If the handout doesn't print correctly: Be sure that your screen is set to the standard resolution of 600 x 800. Or contact us at whootieowl@storiestogrowby.com.
